As M42 was the very first drawing object (see posting November 2004), time had come to redraw it, just curious about improved observing skills during the past few years. Using the same equipment (20x60 binoculars) under similar sky conditions at the same observing spot - this sketch was made:



Three months ago, I bought a new small Rich Field Telescope (RFT) which was thought to replace the 20x60 bino. Along with the new baby, a new 2" eyepiece was purchased. I good idea to draw M42 once again and to compare the results:



Finally, the new eyepiece had to be tested on the "big" 8" newton telescope. So I sketched M42 one more time:
